Qolsys IQ4 Hub

Qolsys IQ4 Hub

The Qolsys IQ4 Hub, another self-contained wireless alarm system from Qolsys, sacrifices some non-essential features from the IQ Panel 4 to bring you a better price point while still offering the same commercial-grade alarm system reliability. The IQ4 Hub is identical to the IQ Panel 4 in many ways, such as the 128 wireless security zone availability, the ability to operate and automate up to 137 Z-wave devices, and providing unparalleled user-friendliness. The IQ4 Hub also includes the dual-path cellular and wifi Alarm.com communicator allowing you to use it with Alarm.com's interactive plans as well as Central Station Monitoring service for dispatch.

More About Qolsys IQ4 Hub

The IQ4 Hub is a perfectly viable, more cost-effective version of the IQ Panel 4, but it is important to know what you may be missing out on in comparison. The first and most notable change is that the IQ4 Hub can only support 1 frequency type of wireless sensor rather than having the option of 2 types on the IQ Panel 4. This means the IQ4 Hub is better for new installs rather than being used as a takeover unit for an existing system. The second main feature that most people may notice is downsized is the front-facing camera on the top of the system. This camera generally takes a picture when the system is accessed showing who is operating the system or entering programming. This means the built-in panel motion sensor is not available as well. In addition, the number of microphones built into the IQ4 Hub is reduced from 3 to 1, meaning live view calls from Alarm.com doorbell cameras still operate fine, but the onboard glass break detector is unavailable. The only other notable difference between the systems is that the IQ4 Hub has only a single 4-watt speaker built-in, however, the system is still able to put out the 85dB required for the built-in siren mechanic.  Most features changed between the systems are lesser known/desired options that were included by default on the IQ Panel 4.

Although the IQ4 Hub may have some of the fancier features removed, it still operates on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 core processor using an Android operating system providing reliable and responsive home or business security. Offering up to 128 zones for security sensors of the wireless card built-in, the Hub can cover just about any size home or business. The main wireless card used with the IQ4 Hub is the PowerG wireless 915MHz option which gives you the ability to use DSC's award-winning PowerG wireless technology. PowerG wireless offers 128-bit AES encryption as well as frequency hopping to ensure that the sensors on your panel have an incredible range as well as the best defense against jamming. PowerG also offers the largest selection of wireless sensors to use with your panel and even offers some unique options like indoor and outdoor sirens and a wired-to-wireless translator for attaching hardwired sensors to the Qolsys IQ4 systems. Needless to say, you'll be able to protect your home or business from any type of threat.

In addition to the security features, the IQ4 Hub also includes an Alarm.com Dual-path communicator allowing you to take advantage of one of the highest-rated alarm services to date. When connected to Alarm.com the IQ4 system is able to be remotely operated via a phone app, or a computer portal. This allows you to arm and disarm the system remotely, receive notifications covering a huge number of system events, and the IQ4 Hub can even be paired with Alarm.com cameras for live viewing. In addition, if you have an Alarm.com doorbell camera you can also answer live doorbell rings from the IQ4 Hub or the Alarm.com app depending on where you are. Alongside the communicator is also a Z-wave card allowing you to enroll up to 137 Z-wave devices. These devices can be used locally at the IQ4 Hub, or if you have an automation plan with Alarm.com you will be able to automate those devices to customize your home experience. Alarm.com services can be used to self-monitor the system yourself using the app, or you may also have Central Station Alarm Monitoring connected to your Alarm.com account. When connected to a Central Station your panel will send alarm signals to the monitoring center where the operators will assist and dispatch police, fire, or medical assistance depending on the alarm type and situation.
