PowerSeries NEO is DSC's newest line of quality security systems that offers a wide range of hardwired solutions and DSC's new PowerG series of wireless devices. This makes the DSC PowerSeries NEO among the most comprehensive hybrid security system in the industry. The NEO systems can be used in residential applications or can also be scaled up to meet large commercial applications.

The HS2128 is the top-of-the-line for the DSC PowerSeries NEO. The panel itself is physically very similar to the HS2064, having 4 PGM output terminals and 8 hardwired zones onboard the panel. The biggest visual difference for the HS2128 is the larger cabinet size it comes in, featuring DSC's largest cabinet. It can be expanded up to an impressive 128 zones though. These can be any combination of wired or wireless zones. The size of the HS2128 makes it a great choice for mainly commercial locations but would also be suitable for some larger residential locations. To add additional hardwired zones, you can add 15 of DSC's HSM2108. Each HSM2108 expansion board adds 8 hardwired zones and connects to the corbus of the HS2128. To manage the modules and wiring of them, we recommend using a PC5003c to house up to 4 modules. And to reduce the number of wires running to the 4 corbus terminals on the HS2128, you can use the DT-600 terminal expanders that will reduce two sets of 6 wires down to 1.

PowerG is a huge upgrade over DSC's prior wireless technology. And all you need to make a NEO panel compatible is a PowerG transceiver. This can be added as a standalone module, HSM2HOST9, or built into a keypad. Every PowerG wireless device is a two-way device that has allowed DSC to add a couple of great features that will work seamlessly on your NEO panel. Each device has an incredible line-of-sight range of 2km or 1.24mi. This makes it unnecessary for most devices to transmit at full power. Each device will determine how strong of a signal it needs to send to reliably talk to the transceiver, extending the battery life of many sensors to near 8 years. They have also added a signal hopping feature that allows devices to switch to a different frequency if there is too much signal interference. Having the PowerG transceiver not only allows you to add wireless sensors for your zones but several other devices as well. The HS2128 can have up to 32 PowerG keychain remotes, 16 wireless sirens, and wireless keypads on top of up to 128 wireless zones. All of this adds up to an incredible amount of power and flexibility.

Many commercial and larger residential installations need or could benefit from utilizing multiple partitions. Partitioning on the HS2128 NEO panel allows you to assign zones together into up to 8 groups. You would then be able to arm each group independently of each other. You also can assign a single zone to multiple partitions, but that zone will not be armed unless all partitions that it is assigned to are armed. This gives you the power to have different areas that can be secured without securing everywhere. You can also assign partitions to user codes so that certain user codes can only function on certain partitions, giving you the ability to limit further and control access to different areas.

The HS2128 is suitable for some very large installations. And large installations tend to need to draw quite a bit of power. The panel can only support up to 700mA on its onboard auxiliary and corbus power terminals. The HS2128 can use up to 16 keypads. If even half that max was used and they were standard HS2LCD keypads, you would be using up to 840mA, which is well over the max of 700mA that can be used on the panel. Before even adding any powered units such as motion detectors or smoke detectors, it would draw further power from the Aux + terminal. Do not fret, though: DSC has two modules that can be used to provide additional supervised power. The first is the HSM2300 power supply module. This provides an additional 1A (1000mA) of power. They also have the HSM2204 power supply with a high-current PGM output expansion module. This serves a dual purpose of adding 1A of power and providing 4 additional high-current PGM outputs. Both kinds of modules will require their power transformer and back up battery.

Another upgrade given to the HS2128 over all the other panels in the PowerSeries NEO lineup is an event buffer that is twice the size of its smaller cohorts. The HS2128 has an event buffer that can store 1000 events. As you can imagine, on a system with over 150 devices attached to it, a smaller event buffer could quickly fill up and be overwritten. An event buffer can be handy in a commercial setting where numerous people may have access to the system. Something might come up where the event log may need to be checked to determine when a certain event may have occurred.

This version of the HS2128NK is CP01 compliant and has all the fail-safes to help protect against false alarms. You will not be able to pick values for some programming sections below a certain value, such as the entry/exit delays. Keep in mind that this is the board and cabinet only, and you will need a transformer and backup battery to go with it.
